What can you say about Eriol?

Well, ok, put it the other way. One of the few things you can't say about Eriol-kun is that he's normal. He'd like to be normal. He can put up a pretty good act of normalcy. But normal-normal... no. Eriol, of course, Officially Likes Kaho, which Tin and Suppi-chan firmly believe is a bunch of -- ah, natural fertillizer made up to avoid the Natural Pairing for him, who is Tomoyo. ¬_¬ Or Syaoran, but that's another shrine. XD As far as they can tell, the rationale is supposed to be something to the effect of 'Eriol needs someone MATURE cos he's so much mentally older than his physical form' -- >< like Tomoyo isn't scary enough to match even Eriol, and, in fact, is the only one in the whole damn manga to surprise him more than once. [Sakura manages it once. ONCE.] Besides the fact that he obviously admires her for her perception and good heart. >.> Eriol's half the reicarnation of Clow Read, the half as what got the magic and the responsibility to make sure that Sakura-san successfully passed her Apprenticeship. Besides being a freaky bastard in general, he's terribly aware of his surroundings all the time. In fact, one of the big themes of ExT fanfiction is, by the very nature of the best, almost entirely composed of Eriol trying to decide if he WANTS to pursue Tomoyo, because he knows damn good and well how she feels toward Sakura. And if there's one thing he's learned during his lifetimes, it's that it's a terrible responsibility to walk in other people's lives. He'll do it. He'll be as ruthless as he must. But we don't think he has much of a taste for it any more. |
